More Long Beach festival

The signage for Beneath the Surface

When you look at the brilliant layout of most of the quilt exhibitions
you are looking at the artistry of Trix.
Trix is a member of the funky red glasses club.
Obviously we had to have a photo!

Our nice beach-view from the mirror of our hotel room
I'm finding it difficult to squeeze in any blog-time while at festival! Here are a few random photos from the past several days. By no means is this selection all-encompassing, but it is a start. I won't be posting concise photos of the Beneath the Surface exhibition until after the Houston festival out of respect for Quilts, Inc., since our exhibition is not allowing photography in the exhibition. We decided to do this for several reasons, but the main one is the fact that we are selling exhibition catalogs. To their credit, the "white glove" people have been very diligent about kindly requesting that people refrain from photography.

Fooling around with the "creeper"

Here are BTS cards, a book, and our notebook with all the artist statements enclosed

Do you think anyone would notice if I took a nap under the table?

What can I tell you? I'm a little kid with scooter toys like this. I just couldn't resist taking the creeper out for a spin:

A few behind-the-scenes images

Something unusual seems to be happening with the blog posts, so I apologize in advance for the awkward layout of the photos. Here are a few more behind-the-scene images of prepping for the show.
Great news: Our exhibition was video-casted this morning by Bonnie McCaffrey and will be posted to the Quilts, Inc. website in the future. Jamie and I were interviewed about the exhibition and we are really happy to be able to represent all of the BTS artists. We hope we did you proud!

Jamie & Leslie post in front of our quilts

Leslie prepares the sign boards (removing old pieces of velcro and replacing them with shiny new pieces). I love the spotted effect.

Jamie glances through our beautiful exhibition catalog while sitting at our table on the show floor. People are really excited about the exhibition, as well as the book!

The installation crew has lunch!

Left to right: Pamela Klebaum, Jamie, Jayne Larson, Leslie, Sherry Kleiman, and Loris Bogue

We may look a bit grungy, and some of are more than others, but the convention center is not air-conditioned during the show set-up. That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it! The volunteers were amazing. Missing from the photo is Joanell Connolly, who had to leave before lunch. Thank you all so much. The hanging went smoothly. Everyone worked together like a well-oiled machine.

Loris Bogue did an excellent job in putting this together for us. It was her vision, seeing it all the way through to the end, is why we have this book. She volunteered to design it for us - and she did a tremendous job! Kudos to you, Loris.

Using Suzanne Staud's design concept from the postcard, Mistyfuse Iris Karp designed the wrap around cover of the book. It is beautiful - thank you Iris!

Leslie and I will be signing and selling books at the International Quilt Festival in Long Beach in our exhibit. Located on Main Street across from the Festival Theatre, the first exhibit on the right from the vendor area. Books are $19.95 each.
